Introduction/Purpose

The Part Category Master in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) serves as a centralized repository for managing and organizing part categories essential for maintenance and operational activities. It allows users to define, view, and maintain part category details, including the part category name and its active or inactive status.

Part categories help classify various types of parts based on their usage and purpose within the organization. This categorization streamlines the addition and management of parts in the system, ensuring consistency and improving accessibility for users. By assigning part categories when adding parts, organizations can maintain a structured inventory and facilitate efficient utilization in maintenance operations.

The Part Category Master indirectly supports work orders and job cards by organizing parts effectively, making it a foundational element in streamlined maintenance management.

Dependency

The Part Category Master relies on the following dependencies for accurate configuration and optimal functionality:

Part Category Name: Specifies the unique name of the category, ensuring clear identification and classification of parts.

Status: Users must select the category’s status (active or inactive) to determine its availability for use in the system.

By managing these dependencies—part category name and status—the Part Category Master enables seamless part categorization, improving the creation of parts and indirectly supporting work orders and job cards within the CMMS.
